Our Engineering department is seeking diligent, hardworking individuals to join the team as a Watchperson. A Watchperson does routine rounds of buildings and yards, keeping an eye out for prowlers or damage being caused to property and equipment. This position involves interacting with individuals trying to gain access outside of regular hours, checking credentials, answering calls, and recording complaints or emergency information, transmitting radio messages to field crews, maintaining simple records, and issuing fuel or supplies when needed. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include up to high school graduation, supplemented by some experience related to the work or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The ideal candidate will be capable of following instruction and working alone or with minimal supervision. Knowledge of the different municipal sites and regulations surrounding their entry is required, along with the ability to assist the public and internal staff courteously and to produce simple records. Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.

Pay Rate: $32.07 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.

Hours of Work: Hours and shift are dependent on operational requirements and are scheduled by the department on an as need basis. We require individuals to work rotating shifts on weekends and holidays, plus Monday to Friday as needed. Typical shifts are day shift 7am-3pm, afternoon shift 3pm-11pm and graveyard shift 11pm-7am.
