What will you be doing!

• Assisting in developing and accepting responsibility for project work packages involving design, construction, commissioning, and facility decommissioning activities.
• Providing technical direction and engineering oversight to support multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Preparing and reviewing technical work scopes, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Identifying, assessing, and initiating changes to approved designs and construction work scope.
• Assessing equipment selection options and providing recommendations to support project execution.
• Supporting and implementing the project quality assurance plan.
• Conducting field walk‑downs to verify design parameters, construction progress, and operational readiness.
• Representing Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) professionally and liaising with external consultants and contractors.
• Staying current with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies.
• Maintaining up‑to‑date safety and operational training as required.
• Taking personal accountability for maintaining technical skills, professional certifications, and continuous learning.
• Sharing knowledge with peers and contributing to team learning and development.
• Identifying and reporting potential safety hazards and adhering to all required personal protective equipment and safety practices.
• Following Workplace Safety and Health procedures, WHMIS, and safe work standards while encouraging safe behavior among colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

Education:

• Bachelor (Honours) degree in Engineering or Science from a recognized university.
• Must be a member, or eligible for membership, with Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba (EGM) as a Registered Professional Engineer.

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in the nuclear industry, ideally in waste management, decommissioning, or processing systems.
• Strong knowledge of the National Building Code, National Fire Code, and applicable standards used in nuclear and non‑nuclear facility design, construction, and decommissioning.
• Experience with nuclear decommissioning activities and industry‑standard methods.
• Technical expertise in remote tooling and remote operations.
• Knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of nuclear facilities.
• Experience resolving complex technical challenges at both strategic and execution levels.
• Strong written communication skills, with a proven ability to produce high‑quality technical documents.
• Knowledge of technical methods and resources required for commissioning activities.
• Experience providing technical leadership to professional and technical staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong judgment and decision‑making skills in technical matters.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
• Effective team leadership and team‑building capabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate across all levels of the organization.
• Strong planning and prioritization abilities to meet deadlines.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required

Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3‑5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.

We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four‑day work week and ten hours a day, starting at 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
