Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for receiving, organizing, storing, issuing materials, and return product from the field. They are responsible for maintaining scrap consolidation areas, disposal, PCB inventories, and supporting documentation. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute ensuring correct and timely inventory availability and distribution: 

a.    Receive and unload incoming materials and compare information on packing slips with purchase orders to verify accuracy of shipment. 

b.    Perform a variety of routine shipping, receiving, handling tasks and perform administrative tasks associated with material and equipment handling programs, including data entry. 

c.    Deliver items to requisitioning departments and obtaining appropriate signatures. 

d.    Guide and train new storepersons and students on performing routine Stores work.  

e.    Perform physical inventory and or cycle counts  as required in order verifying correct inventory management. 

f.     Enter, maintain and process logistics data in order to make the flow of goods and delivery data safe and efficient. 

g.    Post the inward and outward movement in the inventory management systems with quality and storage location as well as information about irregularities, in order to ensure correct inventory management and be able to provide active help. 

h.    Be On-Call as required and per Alectra On-Call schedule  

  1. Ensure proper transport and storage of materials and goods: 

a.    Monitor quantities, complete visual checks, test storage conditions (temperature, humidity, storage environment) and weight, size and type of goods and take corrective action if necessary. 

b.    Operate dolly, pallet truck, forklift and overhead crane in the loading and unloading of material and equipment. 

c.    Perform monthly racking inspections as required 

  1. Perform daily housekeeping duties with respect to Stores and Service Centers. 
  1. Responsible for a working knowledge and understanding of and make all efforts reasonable to work in accordance with and ensuring work is done in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation, EUSR rules, Alectra policies and procedures and safe work practices that apply to the work while adhering to the internal responsibility system. Reports any unsafe conditions or observed unsafe work practices using Alectra procedures. 
  1. Participate in internal and external audits as required. 
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.  

 

Safety Aspects Required: 

  1. Report any unsafe work conditions and contraventions to the OH&S Act, Regulations and Corporate policies and procedures.  
  2. Participate in risk assessment and incident investigation initiatives. 
  3. Use and wear the correct protective clothing and use safety equipment and devices as required.

Education & Specialized Knowledge 

  • Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Certified Forklift Operator 
  • Valid class G driver’s license 
  • Certified Overhead Crane Operator or equivalent
  • Occupational Health & Safety Act (OH&S) 
  • WHMIS
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods

 

Experience 

  • Require a minimum of 2 years of related experience

Skills/Abilities/Competencies

  • Positive attitude.
  • Good people skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good multi-tasking skills
  • Experience with warehouse management systems, tool & equipment repairs/maintenance. 
  • Good knowledge in IT tools, methods including MS Office applications (Word & Excel) and keyboarding
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate ability excellent problem-solving/analytical skills to determine solutions required
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral

 

Working Conditions

 

  • Warehouse & Yard environment 
  • Occasional travel to various service centers 
  • Deliveries to job sites when needed.
