Employment Status: Permanent Full-time

The Canadian Red Cross (Red Cross) – an inspirational not for profit organization, helps people and communities in Canada and around the world in times of need and supports them in strengthening their resilience. As a Canada’s Best Employers 2024, we are committed to having an accessible, diverse, inclusive, and barrier-free work environment.

As the Senior Project Manager, Risk Reduction and Resilience (RR&R), you will lead efforts to strengthen the delivery, coordination, and impact of projects and programs across the service line. Working closely with project and program leads, as well as multiple internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure that initiatives are effectively planned, implemented, and monitored in alignment with Canadian Red Cross (CRC) project management standards and best practices.

You will oversee the full project lifecycle—defining scope, goals, and deliverables; maintaining documentation; tracking timelines and budgets; and proactively identifying and mitigating risks. You will also provide clear, timely updates and financial reports to leadership and working groups. As a subject matter expert, you’ll support and mentor colleagues, lead or contribute to workshops and training sessions, and promote consistency and excellence in project management.

This role focuses on three key pillars: portfolio management, project implementation, and operational support—each critical to driving high-quality programs and advancing the CRC’s strategic objectives in risk reduction and resilience.

In this role you will:

  • Lead project and portfolio management processes to ensure strong alignment with organizational goals and strategic priorities.

  • Develop tools, dashboards, and systems for performance tracking, reporting, and risk management across RR&R initiatives.

  • Standardize project management practices, templates, and quality assurance processes to improve efficiency and consistency.

  • Mentor and support project managers and program leads, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee project budgets, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring responsible resource allocation and financial integrity.

  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to leadership, supporting effective decision-making and cross-team integration.

What we are looking for:

  • 6–9 years’ experience and degree/diploma in project management, business, or related field.

  • PMI certification (PMP or equivalent) required.

  • Proven experience managing complex, large-scale projects end-to-end.

  • Expertise in change management and stakeholder engagement.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Planner, Excel, Smartsheet, or other project management and tracking tools.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Experience applying risk assessment and mitigation strategies.

  • Strong writing and presentation skills; French an asset.

  • Commitment to CRC Fundamental Principles and core competencies (teamwork, service excellence, accountability, results).

Working Conditions:

  • The majority of work is conducted virtually, with occasional on-site meetings in various settings.

  • Access to a home-based workspace and reliable internet is required.

  • As we work with and support people (managers, colleagues, beneficiaries/customers, volunteers, donors and external partners) and communities in Canada and around the world, applicants whose first language is not English may be required to perform the responsibilities of the role in English.

  • Eligibility to work in Canada. At this time, we welcome applications from candidates eligible to work in Canada. If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, we encourage you to carefully review your visa to find out whether you are eligible to work in the job you are considering applying for. • If you are selected for this role, you will be required to complete a successful pre-employment screening process.
