We are currently recruiting for an innovative and strategic CIO to lead our Information Technology team! Reporting to the City Manager, the Chief Information Officer works collaboratively with other City executives in shaping the Corporate Strategy, while providing outstanding support in bringing these plans to fruition. The CIO provides both short and long term strategic planning to the information management team which sets the tone for a high performance culture. This requires leading the department to fulfull the organizations requirements quickly and cost effectively. In short, ensuring that the organization’s technological needs are met in providing cost effective IT solutions, focused on exceptional service quality for our tax payers and staff, is the crux of the role. The thought of mentoring and coaching our IT team across all divisions, as well as developing strong relationships with key stakeholders, should energize you. Solid labour relations experience combined with outstanding analytical problem solving, organizational skills, adaptability, flexibility and working as a change agent are vital.

The CIO represents the interests of the City in discussions and/or negotiations with vendors, other external organizations and agencies providing or requiring information technology services and works in collaboration with the City’s Purchasing Department. This role operates under a corporate governance framework/methodology such as ISO, COBIT or ITIL for the development and management of IT processes and procedures to ensure best business practices.

The ideal candidate will possess either a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related discipline with seven to ten years of recent related experience at the management level preferably in municipal government, or a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or Public Administration and five to seven years of education, training and experience. A minimum of 7 years’ experience and direct involvement in leading and implementing enterprise solutions across all phases of the project lifecycle; preferably in the public sector and with organizations utilizing SAP, ESRI-GIS and cloud solutions are highly desirable.
