Our Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services department is currently looking for hard working and detail oriented individuals to assist with the cleaning and care of Burnaby’s Parks facilities. Parks Janitors help keep our buildings clean and presentable for patrons to enjoy, performing duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and polishing floors, dusting, cleaning windows; performing minor building service tasks, such as replacing fixtures, emptying ash trays and receptacles, maintaining washroom supplies, and setting up buildings for daily use. Parks Janitors also assist patrons by answering routine requests and providing information relating to the facility, and patrolling the building and adjacent grounds. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include up to high school graduation, with some related experience in janitorial or custodial work or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. This role involves the ability to complete light manual tasks, effectively and courteously deal with guests, and follow oral instructions. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of standard cleaning and maintenance procedures including the materials and equipment used, along with knowledge of our facilities regulations and procedures. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.

Hours and shifts are dependent on operational requirements, with typical shifts starting as early as 5:00am and ending as late as 12:30am, Monday to Sunday, with occasional overnight shifts after events.
