Audio-visual and Multimedia Specialist

As the Audio-visual and Multimedia Specialist, you will work both independently, and in collaboration with members of the Digital Technologies team, supporting audio-visual, multimedia and information technology (AV/MM & IT) systems for the Museum’s visitor facing experience. This will include exhibitions across Museum sites and traveling exhibitions.

Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in:

  • Designing, recommending and installing audio-visual and multimedia experiences for public facing venues;
  • Trouble-shooting AV/MM & IT component and system failures;
  • Participating in the selection and supervision of subcontractors and vendors;
  • Setting up and programming AV/MM & IT control systems (such as Crestron and Q-Sys);
  • Installing, configurating and updating of operating systems (e.g. Windows, Mac and Linux) is considered an asset.

Knowledge of:

  • AV/MM & IT products, technologies and architectures;
  • Enterprise network & IT security practices;
  • Computer-aided design software systems, such as AutoCAD;
  • Emerging AV/MM & IT technologies;
  • Risk management and mitigation techniques;
  • Cultural/museum sector is desirable.


  • In Entertainment Technology or Audio-Visual technologies, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification is considered an asset.

Conditions of employment:

  • Ability to lift up to 15 kg;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Fall Arrest certification;
  • Security Clearance: Enhanced Reliability;
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID 19 unless being accommodated based on medical reasons or on grounds recognized by the Canadian Humans Rights Act.

Compensation: $ 60,970 to $ 81,650
