Description

Within the Community Health and Wellness and Indigenous Relations, and under the direction of the Senior Manager & the Indigenous Community Health and Wellness Leads, the Community Connector is responsible to implement community engagement activities, develop relationships based on trust and mutual respect, connect communities to needed supports and services, and support the building of safe communities. 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Community Engagement and Relationship Building
  • Promote and Support Risk Reduction activities and resiliency building
  • Volunteer Management
  • Provide Administrative Support

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The minimum qualifications for this position are a post-secondary education in a related field plus three years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in Indigenous Communities is a requirement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License is required

     

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must possess advanced communication and relationship building skills
  • Must be very organized
  • Must be able to work in highly emotional and stressful environments
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Bilingual English/Cree an asset
  • Must have experience working with and/or as a volunteer.
  • This position is subject to a criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
     

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Extensive travel to remote communities required
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours

 

 

Please note that there is no relocation package for this position.

This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record, reference check, valid provincial driver’s license, and First Aid certification (training provided). The Canadian Red Cross Society is an equal opportunity employer.
