We are seeking a dynamic Food and Logistics Coordinator to provide a broad range of supports to maximize funding for the purchase of nutritious food for the Student Nutrition Program.  Reporting to the Senior Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for food procurement and distribution by supporting the development of relationships with local food producers, retailers and distribution networks in the Cochrane and Timiskaming districts.

In this role you will:

  • Support the efficient sourcing, purchasing, and aggregation of food products within SNP by:
    • Facilitating wholesale or bulk orders
    • Negotiating favourable pricing from local and large-scale businesses;
    • Acquiring food donations.
  • Seek opportunities to develop efficient storage;
  • Identify, source, and purchase equipment for local programs when funding is made available;
  • Support schools to implement, operate, and sustain their local programs.
  • Work with local programs on cost-saving initiatives like the voucher program;
  • Help with organizing and coordinating events like The Great Big Crunch and Cereal Drive;
  • Organize and coordinate the distribution of in-kind donations, donated food and gifts;
  • Work collaboratively with public health units, community partners, businesses, and Food and Logistic Coordinators across Ontario to share information and leverage partnership opportunities;
  • Provide broader support to the Red Cross team.


What we are looking for:

  • One to three years' experience in community program development or a relevant sector;
  • Post-secondary education is an asset;
  • Knowledge of food procurement processes, such as ordering, receiving, storing and inventory of food and supplies is an asset;
  • Knowledge of local and regional retail and food service distribution channels is an asset;
  • Excellent collaborator and skilled in partnership development;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Self-motivated, adaptable;
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours and travel when required;
  • Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle available for business use.


Majority of work is performed in an office environment or remotely from the Coordinator's home.  

Some travel may be required.

This position requires a satisfactory Canadian Criminal Record check, Valid Provincical Drivers License, and a Clean Drivers Abstract.
