The Canadian Red Cross Society, a not for profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is currently seeking an experienced self-motivated individual for the position of Bilingual Community Services Assistant.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the successful candidate will provide administrative, secretarial and clerical assistance with the development, coordination and re-alignment of the new or existing Red Cross programs to serve the vulnerable in specific areas of the community.


  • Entering relevant client information (both live and recorded) into the Client Information Management System (CIMS)
  • Verifying the integrity of data and making corrections as necessary
  • Providing client transportation service coordination, including developing, distributing client/volunteer service schedules and informing client/volunteer changes to schedule
  • Maintaining and coordinating the transportation schedule
  • Assisting with the evaluation and marketing of current Red Cross services and initiatives
  • Assisting with the volunteer recruitment process, as required within the Region
  • Assisting in the design, development, production and distribution of volunteer recruitment materials
  • Receiving client account payments, course payments and donations, logging cheques, issuing receipts, balancing daily cash log
  • Responding to inquiries regarding programs and services offered by the Red Cross providing information and assistance
  • Directing callers to other community agencies or information sources where appropriate
  • Logging all requests for service calls and producing statistical reports as required
  • Providing administrative support to the functioning of the branch services
  • Fleet Management - across the District (therefore must be able to travel throughout the District if required)
  • Integrating volunteer resources within the job’s scope of responsibilities
  • Maintaining records/files and statistics
  • Following all policies and procedures as required to maintain a healthy and safe working environment
  • Updating and maintaining branch manuals
  • Performing other duties as required

    Duties may include but not limited to: 
    • Processing all mail
    • Maintaining filing system
    • Controlling inventory
    • Updating and maintaining manuals and policies as required
    • Planning and participating in various activities to promote Red Cross  
    • Ensuring volunteer compliance with policies and procedures
    • Maintaining current data bases
    • Planning/booking of meetings and trips
    • Maintaining on site logistics



The minimum qualifications for this position are one to two years of post-secondary education in office administration and between one to three years job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office software applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook)

The work is performed in an office environment that is clean and comfortable. Hours of service are based on 35-hour work weeks, Monday to Friday

Please note that there is no relocation package for this position.
