The Canadian Red Cross Society, a not for profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping the most vulnerable in Canada and throughout the world, is currently seeking a Manager, Learning and Development - COVID-19 programs. Within the Learning & Development team and under the coaching and direction of the Senior Director, Learning and Development the Manager, Learning and Development - COVID-19 programs will be responsible to implement a six-month project aimed at scaling up the CRC’s training services specifically for COVID-19 pandemic response. All actions undertaken by the Manager, Learning and Development - COVID-19 programs are guided by the CRC Mission, Vision, the Fundamental Principles.

Meaningful Work: you will be responsible to manage a six-month project aimed at scaling up the CRC’s training program specifically for a COVID pandemic response.


In this role you will:

  • Plan, design, deliver and manage CRC’s COVID-19 six-month learning plan.
  • Design learning paths that leverage blended learning solutions to achieve agreed-upon learning outcomes.
  • Design and implement effective plans and approaches to ensure outstanding learning experience for CRC volunteers and staff.
  • Implement effective strategies to build and manage relationships with CRC stakeholders in People Services, Emergency Management and Health and with external vendors in instructional design.
  • Effectively manage processes related to the design, development, delivery and management of COVID-19 learning program.
  • In collaboration with the L&D Project Manager, provide project monitoring and tracking based on set targets. Identify project and change management risks, as well as, mitigation measures and monitor implementation.
  • Coach, guide and manage the COVID-19 learning team consisting of Coordinators, Facilitators and Instructional Designer.
  • Update work plan as needed, and as per contextual changes.
  • Provide monthly report on training progress.
  • Review monthly project financial reports to monitor expenditures against budget; escalate any risks identified.
  • Follow all CRC’s policies and procedures required to maintain a healthy and safe working environment.


We’re looking for:

  • A combination of education and experience in managing corporate learning programs
  • Self starter, flexible and resilient in a fast-paced environment, ability to work with ambiguity
  • Excellent follow-through with multiple projects and needs happening at once, completing items in a timely manner, prioritizing effectively and providing follow-up as needed
  • Proven ability to be a supportive and productive team member.
  • Pro-actively coach and provide developmental feedback and recognition to team members.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English, with the ability to build relationships, work collaboratively, and manage conflict constructively
  • Strong written and oral skills in English.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Prior work experience within a not-for-profit organization an asset
  • French is an asset.


Working Conditions

  • Duties are principally conducted remotely in Canada
  • Ability to work in stressful and often ambiguous conditions
  • Successfully complete a Canadian criminal record reference check and vulnerable sector check.
