The Role:

The Power and Transportation group has an immediate opening for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with experience in the design of design of dams, foundations, and dam safety reviews and assessments.

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in our Power & Transportation group you will have the opportunity to work on transportation, hydroelectric, marine and civil infrastructure projects in a multi-discipline project team environment. Working in the Vancouver office you will be responsible for developing cost effective, practical engineering designs and construction solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities:

This senior role will give you the opportunity to:

  • work with diverse teams of engineers, designers and drafters from conceptual design through preliminary and final design
  • manage projects and be responsible for completion on schedule and financial performance
  • write, compile, and review technical reports and fee proposals to clients
  • prepare and present technical papers and contribute to advancement of earth science in our area of technical specialization
  • maintain quality throughout a project and implement improvements when determined
  • prepare project summary reports
  • encourage growth within the group and improve the general knowledge base throughout the company
  • develop and sustain long-lasting business relationships with clients
  • be a role model and technical mentor for our staff.
  • travel within Canada and internationally.

Required Education, Experience and Competencies

If you are currently registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in BC, have 10+ years broad-based experience, including on heavy civil projects requiring geotechnical and civil engineering skills, and a Bachelor or Masters degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, we want to hear from you.

  • strong technical design and analytical skills for dam design and dam safety reviews
  • excellent organization, planning and execution skills
  • excellent English verbal and written communication skills, and strong report writing skills
  • strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to develop and sustain long-lasting business relationships with clients
  • proven ability to work effectively and build strong relationships with clients
  • interpersonal skills and ability to effectively lead, manage and motivate project teams
  • computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products and industry standard tools for technical analyses
  • Fluency in French and eligibility to register as professional engineer in Quebec would be an asset
