An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Surface Water Engineer to join our engineering team in Brisbane. You will have the opportunity to work on large-scale world-class projects both in Australian and internationally. 

Our projects include tailings and waste storage facilities, water management structures, water dams, hydropower schemes and mine infrastructure projects. We are engaged in the entire project cycle from site investigation, design, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance, and closure. As a member of our surface water engineering team, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills in surface water engineering to these projects while working closely with our valued clients other talented professionals committed to delivering high quality engineering and geoscience services.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Undertake hydrological assessments using Australian and Rainfall and Runoff 2019.
  • Conduct 2D hydraulic modelling to support the characterisation of flood risk and the design of surface water management systems.
  • Perform dam breach and runout assessments to industry leading standards.
  • Develop engineering solutions for a broad range of projects including tailings storage facilities, water dams, levees, diversions, roads, water/sediment dams, etc. from concept though to detailed design.
  • Prepare and technically review engineering reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities and cost estimates.
  • Undertake project management and client management duties for projects assigned to, or won by you, and complete report writing and presentation needs as projects require.
  • Work with and coach junior staff to support the development of their engineering skills.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and work continually to develop business.
  • Work in a wonderful small company culture.
  • Travel within Australia and internationally to various field locations.

If you are registered, or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ), have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, we want to hear from you!

We value your:

  • Knowledge of Australian guidelines and standards: particularly Australian Rainfall and Runoff 2019.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of relevant industry standard software for hydrologic (RORB, WBNM, URBS, XPRAFTs etc.) and hydraulic modelling (TUFLOW, HEC-RAS etc.).
  • Experience in preparing engineering reports, drawings and specifications for studies and construction projects.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and increase your technical skills and professional experience.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
