POSITION SUMMARY



As an integral part of the Pension Fund Management Team, the incumbent is expected to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns for their designated portfolios. The Pension Fund management team was created to ensure strategic active management of Kruger’s corporate pension fund and its goal is to deliver long-term, sustainable returns, to support the company’s efforts to attract the best talent by providing a competitive compensation package.
The Investment Analyst is required to manage and develop their current portfolio, to source new investments, to ensure high standards of analysis and due diligence (investment, legal and operational), to negotiate and formally recommend investments and manage both the on-boarding and maintenance process. Additional responsibilities and special projects will be assigned as necessary. 


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source appropriate investment opportunities, assess their viability and manage/conduct all stages of due diligence, including legal, & tax, market research, competitive analysis, and product technology analysis as required.
  • Perform sectorial analysis for specific industry verticals, and maintain knowledge base for previously executed. 
    research.
  • Define and reappraise the investment strategy by performing asset class/industry research and portfolio level analysis leading to asset allocation and portfolio construction.
  • Manage existing portfolio investments and company/manager relationships: liaise on a minimum yearly basis with existing investment managers.
  • Compile performance data and perform portfolio analysis and benchmarking.
  • Prepare internal and external reporting documents on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Observe and evaluate current developments in the institutional investment and financial marketplace.
  • Engage with investment communities and the broader local business community with the view of developing sources of deal flow and opportunities for follow-on investment.

QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC


  •  BA/MS in relevant field (Economics, Quantitative Finance, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, etc.)

EXPERIENCE


  • 3-5 years experience in finance, engineering or consulting

SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Excellent understanding of financial instruments, background in equity and/or fixed income investment analysis preferred.
  • Progress towards the CFA designation preferred.
  • Proficiency in information systems, Microsoft office.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Strong work ethic, initiative and ability to multi-task.

LANGUAGES


  •  Fluent in both English and French.
