OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator who will report to the Health and Safety Supervisor and be responsible to:
- Champion the coaching of all aspects of health and safety within all divisions of Corner Brook Pulp and Paper
- Act as a key member of safety committees including Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee in each division as required
- Be an advocate for current Health and Safety Initiatives, develop and implement programs and initiatives and conduct regular audits based on mill and external requirements.
- Lead the Emergency Response Team and participate in Spill Response
- Manage the maintenance and troubleshoot to locate issues with the fire suppression system
- Assist supervisors or superintendents in the investigation of safety related incidents
- Lead Safety Root Cause Analysis (RCA) team as required.
- Follow up on Corrective actions identified during RCA process
- Advise on Disability Management cases and Early and Safe Return to Work plans as required
- Participate in conducting internal audits
- Manage and regularly report on safety KPI’s
QUALIFICATIONS
The Successful candidate should have:
- Bachelors degree or Diploma is a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Health and Safety
- Other combinations of experience and education will be considered
- Preference will be given to candidates with a Safety designation or certification
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills in the face of adversary
- Aptitude to function as a Change Agent to foster a safety culture
- Proficient use of computers
