Health and Safety Coordinator

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator who will report to the Health and Safety Supervisor and be responsible to:

• Champion the coaching of all aspects of health and safety within all divisions of Corner Brook Pulp and Paper
• Act as a key member of safety committees including Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee in each division as required
• Be an advocate for current Health and Safety Initiatives, develop and implement programs and initiatives and conduct regular audits based on mill and external requirements.
• Lead the Emergency Response Team and participate in Spill Response
• Manage the maintenance and troubleshoot to locate issues with the fire suppression system
• Assist supervisors or superintendents in the investigation of safety related incidents
• Lead Safety Root Cause Analysis (RCA) team as required.
• Follow up on Corrective actions identified during RCA process
• Advise on Disability Management cases and Early and Safe Return to Work plans as required
• Participate in conducting internal audits
• Manage and regularly report on safety KPI’s

QUALIFICATIONS

The Successful candidate should have:

• Bachelors degree or Diploma is a related discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Health and Safety
• Other combinations of experience and education will be considered
• Preference will be given to candidates with a Safety designation or certification
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills in the face of adversary
• Aptitude to function as a Change Agent to foster a safety culture
• Proficient use of computers
