GRADUATE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
(MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES)

As part of Kruger Publication Papers division, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited is a quality leader in the manufacture of newsprint, and holds the Sustainable Forest Initiative Certification as well as being self-sufficient on energy between Deer Lake Power Generation, Steam Power and Steam Recovery. OVERVIEW

The Graduate Development Engineer is a development role for new graduates of a recognized engineering program where the successful candidate(s) will be engaged in project(s) that will have a positive impact on the efficiency and/or sustainability of various areas of the business.

Graduate Development Engineer will be rotated between Maintenance, Production areas, Engineering and Technical Services over the course of 2 years before finding a permanent position to grow, develop and progress forward.

The Successful Candidate(s) will have the opportunity to grow skills in team work, leading teams, and union relations, on top of

 

EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS

  • Design/Install/Programming of Variable Frequency Drives
  • Development of expert systems for monitoring of process variables
    and process deviations Paper Mill 7 and Thermal Mechanical Pulping
  • Design/Installation of Compressed Air System For Mill
  • Piping/Design Modifications to Thermal Mechanical Pulping Water Systems
  • Pump Optimization to Reduce Equipment Damage and Improve Energy Efficiency
  • Integration of New Technology of Distributed Control Systems Paper Machine 2/ Thermal Mechanical Pulping Process
  • Design/Install PLC Control Systems Paper Machine 2/ Thermal Mechanical Pulping Process
  • Safety System review, update and implementation
  • Opportunities still to be identified as we explore diversification

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must have:

  • Completed a recognized engineering program. Preference will be given to electrical and mechanical, but will not be limited to those disciplines
  • A passion for continuous improvement and a curiosity to explore creative solutions to problems
  • An interest in working with a large manufacturer in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador
    with growth potential and opportunities across Canada and the United States.
  • Open to gaining knowledge and training in specialized areas like Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis
  • Proficient in Excel or any other additional data management software (PI, Envoy, etc.)
