POSITION SUMMARY:

SE Health is currently seeking Occupational Therapist to work at the new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital to work in our 12 bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).  The Occupational Therapist will provide patient management through all stages of assessment, treatment, consultation and follow-up services to patients.  The successful candidate will be familiar working in a team environment and will provide care using a child and family centered approach.   

As the successful candidate, you are a graduate of an accredited program in Occupational Therapy and are a member in good standing of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.  You demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a high level of initiative and adaptability to rapidly changing demands. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments in acute pediatric population.
  • Plan and implement patient centered, goal-directed treatment programs primarily in the areas of feeding and swallowing, positioning and handling, and neurodevelopment techniques as appropriate.
  • Document patient care interventions, formulating goals and recommendations.
  • Provide education and support to families in regards to treatment, recommendations, and discharge planning.
  • Participate in unit quality and care planning as required.
  • Input and monitor workload in accordance with SE and Mackenzie Health requirements.
  • Make recommendations pertaining to discharge and community care with inter-professional team members.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A graduate of an accredited program in Occupational Therapy (OT) and are a member in good standing of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • 1-2 years of hospital experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Two years of pediatric experience required.
  • Experience with neuro-developmental assessment and intervention in the neonatal population preferred.
  • Experience in the evaluation and treatment of neonatal feeding and swallowing preferred.
  • Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional, able to work effectively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
  • Sound knowledge of pediatric community resources is an asset.
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • A positive work and attendance record is essential.
  • Ability to adapt to new computer applications.
  • Current VSC and updated immunization record.

Note : 8:30am- 1:30pm 3 days per week 0.4 FTE
