The SE Research Centre conducts impact-oriented health services research to synthesize, generate, translate, adapt and directly apply scientific evidence in the design, delivery and evaluation of person and family-centred health and social care services.

The SE Research Centre is excited to announce a 4 month Research Communications Studentship position for the summer of 2022. The primary role of the Research Communications Student is to support knowledge mobilization of the health services research projects within the SE Research Centre priority research fields using excellent communications and management skills. The Research Communications Student will be familiar with knowledge mobilization of research and possess knowledge in digital communications and marketing strategies. The Research Communications Student will work closely with the Research Centre Coordinator of SE Research Centre and directly report to the Managing Director of SE Research Centre. The position requires approximately 37.5 hours/week and is best suited for current graduate students who are looking for summer work and opportunity to expand knowledge on health services research.



Represent the SE Research Centre Priority Research Fields (20%)

  • Speak to the SE Research Centre priority research fields and all active projects both internally and externally with other researchers and academic audiences


Participate in strong digital communications and knowledge mobilization of SE Research Centre health services research projects (80%)

  • Carry out the SE Research Centre Knowledge Mobilization Initiative support roles of assisting the Research Centre Coordinator for any project in any of the SE Research Centre priority research fields
  • Support the development of various knowledge mobilization materials using digital platforms
  • Assist the coordination of knowledge mobilization materials including dissemination strategies and tracking of various audiences, digital communications marketing statistics, and recipient receptivity




Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science of health related discipline from a recognized university
  • Experience in Health Services Research in one or more of the following ways:
    • Previous work or studentship as a Research Intern or Research Assistant
    • Undergraduate Thesis completed
    • Undergraduate Research Methods course completed


Technical Competencies

  • Experience in supporting qualitative and quantitative health services research data
  • Experience in digital communications including platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, MailChimp.
  • Familiarity with the principal health sectors in Canada including hospital, home and community-based care

  • Ability to contribute to a team under complex research and organizational conditions, and in an environment of multiple priorities
  • Diplomacy and interpersonal skills
