POSITION SUMMARY:  

The primary focus of the Senior Program Lead will be to lead select strategic initiatives and priorities of SE Health’s Future of Aging social impact work. The portfolio of impact initiatives is based on a framework that has three areas of focus: 1) Aging & Society, 2) Aging & Community, 3) Aging & You. The portfolio also includes a range of capacity development initiatives.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships (15% of time)

  • Cultivate relationships across the aging ecosystem including the public and policy/decision-makers.

  • Seek out and identify strategic opportunities to drive the Future of Aging team’s work forward.

  • Lead and/or support outreach activities as well as promoting SE Health and Future of Aging work (e.g. Hope & Happiness Café, Wiser Advisors).

Strategic Initiative (e.g. Ageing Community Lab, COURAGE) (25% of time)

  • Develop and execute strategy for defined initiatives.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to lead and/or facilitate to advance projects.

  • Facilitate co-design methodologies to engage relevant parties and partners and build appropriate solutions to challenging issues

  • Work collaboratively as a team, supporting others in achieving goals and objectives.

  • Leverage innovative design and systems thinking methodologies to make sense of complex challenges and design programs and initiatives that address such challenges.  

Future of Aging Strategy Development & Thought Leadership (10%)

  • Consult with senior leadership and participate in decision making on the overall goals and strategy development for the Future of Aging team.

  • Lead and/or support environmental scans, literature review and other research activities to monitor trends and develop innovative ideas and proposals.

  • Draft recommendations and identify areas where SE could be influential.

  • Contribute to the Future of Aging’s thought leadership strategy to position SE Health as a social impact champion.

Capacity Building  & Resource Management (10%)

  • Identify internal and external resources including financial resources to support sustainable social impact initiatives.

  • Prepare proposals based on sound knowledge, advice and involvement of relevant partners and communities.

  • Supervise external vendors and consultants.

  • Manage and mentor direct reports, junior team members, and interns.

  • Assign work to direct reports and assess workloads and prioritize as needed.

  • Track deliverables and conduct performance evaluations.

  • Participate in day-to-day workflows of the Future of Aging team (weekly meetings, etc.) and other Future of Aging team projects/efforts as they arise

  • Foster a respectful work environment that supports the psychological and physical wellbeing of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-graduate education is required; degree in innovation, business, health administration, business model / experience design or other health related disciplines would be an asset

  • Min. 10 years’ work experience in health, social services, partnership development; aging ecosystem; operational experience would be an asset 

  • Strong organizational skills & ability to effectively manage multiple parallel streams of work

  • Experience facilitating large scale, multi-partner initiatives

  • Strong communicator and compelling presenter

  • High degree of curiosity, excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills

  • A high level of decisiveness and business acumen (e.g., comfort with financial statement and business model design)

  • Ability to lead small and large teams of internal and external members

  • Strong experience with stakeholder management and engagement activities (e.g., able to plan and lead/facilitate meetings and workshops)

  • Ability to build trust and relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. subject matter experts, senior decision makers, politicians)

  • Strong people management skills with the ability to negotiate and influence

  • Ability to manage and mentor junior team members, directing the work of direct reports and consultants/vendors

  • Both a thinker and a doer; experience taking a concept from design through implementation; ability to be agile and adapt to changing work needs and priorities

  • Passion for improving the health and well-being of older adults and experience working on projects that serve this demographic

  • Guided by desire to achieve a meaningful impact and work in a mission driven organization

  • Strong MS Office skills, especially PowerPoint and MS Word, and general competence with web-based computer applications (e.g. virtual meeting platforms); comfort with project planning and/collaboration tools would be an asset (e.g., Miro, Jam Boards, Trello, etc.)

  • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset

  • Occasional travel between within and outside of Canada

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
