POSITION SUMMARY:  

Supporting the VP, Strategy and Government Relations, this role will be part of a dynamic team shaping the future of Canada's largest social enterprise. It will be a key contributor to the strategic planning process, working collaboratively with the senior leadership team, business and functional leads, external partners, direct care providers, clients, families and communities to advance SE Health’s vision, growth and impact across Canada and beyond.

The successful candidate will bring a strategic mindset and be ready and willing to roll up their sleeves to achieve a meaningful impact within a large, diversified health services organization.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enterprise-Wide Strategy Development 

  • Collaborates with leaders to develop, implement and align enterprise-level plans, priorities and initiatives

  • Updates and evolves the strategic framework to reflect SE Health’s current and long-term strategy and goals

  • Leverages research and analytics to support decision making on strategic direction and alignment with business priorities

  • Conducts environmental scans and industry analysis to identify, evaluate and advise on relevant insights, trends, scenarios, opportunities and risks impacting SE Health’s strategy and performance at the regional, provincial, national and international level

  • Supports cross-functional teams on mergers and acquisitions

  • Supports positioning and content development for RFPs

Strategy Monitoring and Tracking 

  • Ensures enterprise-wide strategies are progressing on track, analyzing gaps and suggesting appropriate course corrections as needed

  • Contributes to the creation and ongoing monitoring of execution roadmaps including associated milestones and metrics, both quantitative and qualitative

  • Builds, maintains and continuously improves internal strategic planning processes to increase effectiveness within the enterprise

Implementation Support 

  • Produces a range of documents including agendas, slide decks, templates and reports for senior leadership meetings and retreats, capturing and incorporating relevant action items

  • Collaborates with business and functional leads to support integrated planning, address gaps and challenges, and drive alignment across the enterprise

  • Leads and supports strategic initiatives and projects on an ad hoc basis

Strategy Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partners with business development, marketing and communications, operations and digital transformation teams to ensure SE Health’s strategy and offerings are appropriately captured and communicated both internally and externally

  • Distills complex information to produce accurate, high-quality business communications with clear and compelling narratives including presentations, speaker notes and reports for various audiences such as the board of directors, senior leaders, government officials, industry and community partners

  • Leads and facilitates meetings and focus groups to gather client, staff and partner input on strategic plans from diverse stakeholder communities, encouraging and embracing different perspectives

  • Develops and executes stakeholder engagement and change management plans

  • Liaises, consults to and/or serves on various external committees and working groups – for example, industry associations, sector tables and Ontario Health Teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in business, health administration, marketing or innovation management; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • 10+ years of experience in strategy consulting or similar field

  • Knowledge of issues and trends in Canadian health care and the social impact sector

  • Both a thinker and a doer; strong track record of translating strategy into action

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and effectively manage multiple parallel workstreams with time-bound deliverables

  • Superior business acumen with strong aptitude for strategic, critical and analytical thinking

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication including presentation skills

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, high energy and results orientation

  • Excellent planning, organizational and administrative skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially PowerPoint and Word, and general competence with various computer and web-based applications

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and trust with a wide range of stakeholders including senior executives, business leaders, health care staff, patients, caregivers, and external partners

  • Comfort with, and ability to make sense of ambiguity

 

This is a hybrid role, connected with our home office in Markham, Ontario with significant flexibility for remote work; occasional travel is required.
