POSITION SUMMARY

As the Accounting Manager, you will provide key support to the Director of Finance by processing and analyzing financial data to support effective financial decision-making across the organization.   You will be responsible for managing the roles of accounts payable, banking and general accounting.  A professional CPA designation is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for day-to-day accounting operations including periodic/monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting activities
  • Oversee all reconciliation and ledger analysis
  • Coordinate, plan, collaborate and manage year-end activities
  • Provide detailed analysis, interpretation and global variance explanations of financial statements
  • Support development of annual plans/budgets and forecasts and incorporation into accounting software
  • Develop accounting tools and processes to support evolving needs
  • Manage a team including training, development and team building initiatives
  • Assist/lead/implement financial projects
  • Develop, test and implement system enhancements, financial reports and KPIs
  • Ensure processes are operating within a robust control environment and compliant with accounting procedures and policies
  • Identify issues and work closely with cross-functional teams to find solutions.
  • Respond to financial requests and inquiries from various business areas, external partners and government

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of progressive work experience in supervising teams, financial analysis, reporting and internal controls is required
  • CPA designation and post-secondary degree in Finance or Business Administration
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian accounting principles for NPOs and private enterprise is required;
  • Advanced Excel with proficiency in Great Plains, QuickBooks and BI-Microstrategies is desired
  • Results-driven with demonstrated flexibility in competing work assignments
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work well with customers and other team members
  • A successful track record of fostering a highly motivated team within a positive culture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be adaptable, willingly embrace change, relentless in the pursuit of improvement
  • Strong sense of urgency and respect for deadlines
  • This role is classified as hybrid where you would be required to attend at our head office in Markham several times a week.
