JOB SUMMARY:  

The Clinical Quality Lead is a full-time position which supports continuous quality improvement efforts across the Seniors Living portfolio. Under the direction of the Director, Quality & Resident Experience, the Clinical Quality Lead works closely with site leaders to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate quality initiatives and annual quality plans. Along with utilizing their subject matter expertise, the incumbent will use their experience in continuing care, strong critical thinking, change management skills, and communication skills to drive quality results across the Seniors Living portfolio.

Location: Remote and on site, must be located in Alberta

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Continuous Quality Improvement

  • In collaboration with site leaders, and under direction of the Director of Quality & Resident Experience, creates, implements, monitors and evaluates quality initiatives and annual quality improvement plans
  • In collaboration with site leaders and the regional leadership team, designs system and process changes that lead to operational improvement
  • Analyzes and interprets incident reporting data and other quality metrics, providing support and insight to site leaders as required to track and trend clinical quality over time
  • Evaluates delivery of the Infection Control Program through collection, trending and analysis of key indicators
  • In collaboration with the DoQ, DOO & AVP uses data to drive identification and prioritization of improvement opportunities
  • Attends and chairs committee meetings to provide advice on quality improvement data and initiatives, as required
  • Monitors compliance with CCHSS, Accommodation and Accreditation standards on an ongoing basis
  • Participates in incident reviews and root cause analysis as required
  • Contributes to the development and revision of risk management tools and resources such as emergency preparedness efforts; infection prevention and control practices, and others as assigned
  • Oversight of RAI MDS program: reviews and utilizes data to drive quality improvement initiatives regionally and at site level
  • Reviews RAI data quality prior to ACCIS submissions
  • Tracks QI indicators and flags those for potential action
  • Acts as a resource for staff & leaders related to RAI coding and care planning
  • Collaborates with healthcare teams to seamlessly integrate digital solutions into daily workflows, ensuring the effective utilization of technology for improved patient outcomes, streamlined processes, and enhanced data-driven decision-making
  • Supports and collaborates on initiatives to establish and maintain data governance structures, leveraging clinical informatics knowledge to ensure the accuracy and meaningful analysis of healthcare data

  • Travel to work with leaders and staff on site is required
  • Builds and supports sustainable and productive relationships with all individuals including staff, senior management, the community, residents, and families

  • Acts as a representative with external bodies including Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health, and other industry contacts

Knowledge Translation

  • Provides education and support to directors, managers, and staff relating to quality monitoring and improvement, risk management, resident/patient safety, infection prevention and control, and other workplace improvement initiatives as required
  • Supports the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures within scope of role, as required
  • Models behaviour that is consistent with just culture and promotion of a psychologically safe work environment
  • Performs various responsibilities which support and advance departmental goals
  • Performs cross-functional and other duties within scope of role, as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Health-related field required
  • Understanding of how processes and operations run in a continuing care setting required
  • 3-5 years’ experience within continuing care setting required
  • Master’s Degree in related field is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated experience applying clinical audit or accreditation standards to clinical practice is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated experience using quality improvement science in the healthcare setting a strong asset
  • Certification in Lean or other Quality Improvement methodology is an asset
