 Overview

Siem Offshore Canada, formerly Secunda Canada, is a well-known offshore Marine Company with our primary area of operation being Eastern Canada.  The expertise of our personnel stems from working over three decades in our harsh weather environment as the leader of support services in platform supply, anchor handling, rescue standby and towage.

We are currently accepting resumes for any future openings for experienced and qualified Captains for positions working primarily in offshore Newfoundland working a 28 day on/off rotation. 

Reporting to the Vessel Superintendent, the Captain will draw on a record of safe and efficient ship handling and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service to charterer clients.  The Master will ensure that Siem Offshore Canada’s HSEQ policies and programs are communicated to, understood and complied with by all employees. Applicants must have recent anchor handling, towing, standby and/or supply operations experience gained as a certified senior DP operator.

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes:

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications, experience, and personal attributes.

• Master Mariner Certificate of Competency
• Dynamic Positioning Operator
• Valid Marine Basic or Advanced First Aid and CPR
• Valid Unrestricted Transport Canada Marine Medical
• Ship Security Officer or Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties certificate
• WHMIS
• Passenger Safety Management Training
• Proven track record in relevant offshore experience within the marine sector; recent offshore standby experience on a PSV or AHTS vessel is strongly preferred.
• Experience on vessels using azimuth propulsion systems.
• Valid Canadian passport; Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status
• Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.
• Experience with TM Master is an asset.
• Self-starter, analytical and problem-solving capabilities, demonstrated effectiveness in working with charterers, safety leadership and employee/team development.
