Position Description:


The Financial Planning & Analysis function is the centre of analytical excellence to drive insightful business decisions and strategy. The FP&A Manager is responsible for leading planning and forecasting activities within FP&A and providing support to the Director, Corporate Finance and CFO. This position acts as a thought partner with key stakeholders across the business to translate strategy into executable plans and measure performance through best-in-class management reporting.  In addition, the role is focused on building the capabilities of the team though development of reporting tools, analytical models and financial planning processes to effectively scale business growth.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the annual strategic planning and monthly forecasting cycle in close partnership with key stakeholders (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow)
  • Develops actionable management reporting to provide insights into performance, variances, drivers and key business trends
  • Manages the corporate financial model, including running various scenario analyses as required to evaluate overall impact on earnings, liquidity and capital structure. Builds in robust controls to ensure accuracy of results produced
  • Spearheads the design, adoption and enhancement of the planning & budgeting system, including improvements to data governance and automation
  • Manages the preparation of presentations to the board of directors and senior management
  • Supports the Treasury team in analyzing and modelling new financing (debt and equity) initiatives, including preparation of presentations of the impact/results
  • Performs on-going and strategic analyses to enhance profitability and support key initiatives and growth, including operating cost review, profitability analysis and financing proposals
  • Manages four direct reports, including objective-setting, performance reviews and coaching
  • Performs other duties as required



  • Bachelor’s degree or MBA from a recognized institution
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Understanding of differences for cash flow treatment and of valuation models, IRR, and cash flow valuations
  • Strong expertise in Excel for financial modelling and analysis
  • Enjoys working with numbers, with a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with strict deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • CPA, CFA or CBV accreditation
  • Proficiency in using/developing planning and reporting applications (e.g. Oracle, PowerBI)
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with business partners as trusted and objective advisor
  • Exposure to the shipping industry
