If you enjoy interacting with people and are fluent (written and oral) in a variety of languages, this may be the opportunity for you! Various Burnaby recreation centres are seeking a capable, energetic and personable individual as a Language Instructor for adult language programs. The successful applicant will create lesson plans and deliver engaging and creative conversation lessons in addition to performing related work as required.
Our ideal candidate’s qualifications include a University Degree or College Diploma in a second language; three or more years of experience instructing various languages to English speaking students; one or more years of experience leading education or recreation activities for adults; one or more years of experience working or volunteering in a recreational center, community center, neighborhood house or a similar setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Please note that a Police Information Check may be required for this position.
Pay Rate: $37.23 per hour + 4% in lieu of benefits (2024 Rates)
Location: Bonsor Recreation Complex, Cameron Recreation Complex, Christine Sinclair Community Centre, Confederation Community Centre, and Edmonds Community Centre.
Hours of Work: This is a contract position, hours and shifts are based on registration and do not provide guaranteed hours of work. Typical shifts in this role will be 1 or more days a week with shifts being 2-4 hours in the morning, afternoon or evening from Monday to Sunday. Hours are assigned on a seasonal schedule.
