What will you be doing!
- Performing routine radiation and contamination surveys to confirm acceptable workplace conditions.
- Performing source and function checks of radiation and contamination monitoring instruments and reporting discrepancies.
- Assisting in tracking, shipping and controlling radiation and contamination monitoring instruments onsite and offsite.
- Assisting in the characterization and screening of materials and equipment in the radiological clearance process.
- Supporting decommissioning projects.
- Collecting effluent exhaust stack filters and samples for submission to Environmental Compliance.
- Assisting in the provision of exposure and contamination control measures.
- Assisting in the waste handling and packaging process.
- Assisting in other RP areas such as dosimetry, and project support.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Grade 12 education or equivalent is required.
- Must undertake and successfully complete RP Group 2 training.
- Radiation Protection Group 3 and/or Group 2 qualification is an asset.
- Experience
- Three (3) years’ experience working in a radiological environment.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must possess a fundamental understanding of mathematics and science.
- Must possess initiative and the ability to work as a team member.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and safety-minded.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
- Must be conscientious and meticulous in keeping records.
- Ability to use good judgment and be safety-conscious.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, & Excel).
- Ability to remain focused and to complete assignments on schedule.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- This position is part of the Whiteshell Technical Employees Group and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the WTEG Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
- Working schedule: We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. .
