About the Role:

The Cultural Services office focuses on public art, community development, planning, and policy related to arts and culture in the City of St. Catharines. The Culture Assistant will assist the Cultural Services office with the implementation of projects as prioritized through the City’s Culture Plan and departmental priorities.  

What You'll be Doing:

  • Assist with the implementation of projects as prioritized through the City’s Culture Plan and departmental priorities.
  • Assist with the development of the Culture Days program.
  • Document, catalogue, deaccession, and enter new information into The Museum System database, as required.
  • Research and report writing related to the Civic Art Collection, specifically on artist information and justifications for acquisition process.
  • Assist staff with annual condition assessments of outdoor art and memorials.
  • Assist staff with exhibition development, research, and community engagement as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the Cultural Services office as needed.

What's Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution or graduated from such within the last six months.
  • Confident in daily computer use and proficient Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Previous experience in arts and culture is an asset.
  • Cataloguing experience is an asset.
  • Photography and photo editing skills are an asset.
  • A valid G Class Ontario driver’s license.

Hours: 35 per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
