Senior Inspector, Life Cycle Management (LCM)

The Capital Stewardship Branch is looking for a Senior Inspector, Life Cycle Management (LCM) for an indeterminate position. The position is classified as an RÉ-05 ($75,576 to $100,274 per annum).

JOB OVERVIEW
As the Senior Inspector, LCM, you will administer the asset inspection program for real property assets of all portfolios within the National Capital Commission (NCC). You will prepare and assemble technical field inspection reports on major buildings, structures and electrical systems to determine their condition and assess repair costs. You will coordinate and review the Asset Condition Reports (ACR) prepared by external consultants.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a discipline relevant to the position such as Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE
Three (3) to five (5) years experience in each of the following criteria: 
•    Performing field inspections of buildings, structures, and electrical systems.
•    Formulating scopes of work and estimates.
•    Preparing Asset Condition Reports (ACR).
•    Reviewing ACR’s prepared by consultants.

KNOWLEDGE
•    Of the National Building Code and regional standards.
•    Of identifying deviations from applicable codes, fire hazards and health and safety.
•    Of regulations on universal accessibility, heritage and environmental issues.
•    Of construction methods and techniques.      

ABILITIES
•    To work independently.
•    To manage and prioritize various tasks.

ASSETS
•    Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or working towards one of these designations.
•    Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) certification.
•    Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
•    International Facility Management Association (IFMA) certification.
•    Other professional designations and/or Project Management memberships.      

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT    
•    Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
•    Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB (Candidates who are not sure that they meet the linguistic profile are encouraged to apply).
•    Possess a valid driver’s licence and provide a good driver’s abstract.
•    Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario.
•    The National Capital Commission offers a hybrid and flexible work environment, all employees are currently asked to work on-site at least two (2) days per week.
