The Capital Stewardship Branch is looking for a Custodian for a one (1) year temporary (term) position with the possibility of extension and/or indeterminate status. The position is classified as a RÉ-01 ($35,646 to $47,641 per annum).

JOB OVERVIEW
As a Custodian, you will perform light to heavy-duty custodial services for the Official Residences Division. The work includes routine, scheduled cleaning of offices and common areas, as well as on-demand or seasonal tasks. You will be accountable for the quality of work performed and for the efficient use of supplies. You will work alone during shifts and will carry out these duties in a professional and discrete manner. You will be responsible for safekeeping of keys and use of fleet vehicles. You will frequently interact with the public and representatives of resident organizations, responding to their questions or comments with courtesy and tact.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A High School diploma.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in office and building cleaning and utilizing the appropriate cleaning procedures, methods, products and equipment for both light and heavy-duty tasks.
KNOWLEDGE
• Of recycling practices and procedures for paper and cardboard products, glass and metal.
• Of building cleaning standards, procedures, and frequencies.
• Of building maintenance standards to be able to identify and report visible deficiencies such as leaks, damaged finishes or furniture, burnt lights, broken locks etc.
• Of Microsoft Office suite , such as Outlook.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Must follow and respect a work schedule.
• Will be expected to interact with the public and representatives of resident organizations.
• To work unpredictable working hours as necessary, which may include overtime.
• To wear a uniform.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
• Linguistic profile: English Essential or French Essential.
• Possess a valid Driver’s License.
• Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 1 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario.
• The person selected for this position is expected to work on site.
