Program Officer, Nature Interpretation

The Capital Stewardship Branch is looking for a Program Officer, Nature Interpretation for an indeterminate position. The position is classified as a RÉ-04 ($66,836 to $85,106 per annum).

JOB OVERVIEW
As a Program Officer, Nature Interpretation, you will be responsible for all aspects of nature interpretation programming for Gatineau Park, in accordance with the Gatineau Park Master Plan and the Interpretation Strategy. You will coordinate the implementation of established programming and exhibits as well as develop and evaluate new initiatives. You will participate in managing the programs’ human, physical and financial resources and work with partners for delivery of some programs.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in natural sciences, environmental studies or outdoor education or an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience relevant to the position.

EXPERIENCE
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in each of the following criteria:
•    Planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and delivering nature interpretation programs.
•    Supervising staff and/or coordinating a team.
•    Collaborating with partners.

KNOWLEDGE
•    Of Gatineau Park fauna, flora and the natural environment in general.
•    Of best practices in the delivery techniques of nature interpretation programs in a park.
•    Of organization and coordination principles of museum exhibits and/or interpretation panels.    

ABILITIES
•    To develop and deliver creative programming concepts.
•    To establish priorities and meet deadlines in a multi-project environment.
•    To develop measurement tools, analyze resulting data and prepare reports.

COMPETENCIES

WORKING CONDITIONS
•    To occasionally work evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT    
•    Possess or eligible to obtain Reliability security clearance.
•    Linguistic profile: Bilingual CCC.
•    Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 33 Chemin Scott, Chelsea, Québec.
•    The person selected for this position is expected to work on site. Working remotely can be granted on an occasional basis upon request.
