POSITION OVERVIEW:  
  
Who are we looking for? 

Someone creative, innovative, engaged, and student-centered, with a commitment to student learning and success.  
  
Reporting to the University Librarian, the Psychology, Geography & Fine Arts Liaison Librarian will 

  • Provide in-person and online reference service in all disciplines as a member of a team serving students and faculty in an active teaching and learning environment  
  • Liaise with the departments of Psychology, Geography, and Fine Arts including collection development, teaching, reference and outreach  
  • Act as Library contact for the Kwantlen Art Gallery and their display space in the Arbutus building atrium 

  
 QUALIFICATIONS:  
  
What education and experience should you have? 

  • MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution  
  • Broad knowledge of e-resources & bibliographic tools, the reference interview, and academic information literacy concepts and skills  

  
Other Skills & Abilities Required  

  • Demonstrated skill in planning and delivering virtual and in-person instruction in synchronous and asynchronous formats in both one-on-one and classroom environments  
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collegial team environment  
  • Strong service philosophy and a commitment to fostering a positive user experience  
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty, and staff in a friendly and professional manner within an EDIA positive organization 
  • Willingness to actively serve on Library and KPU committees 
  • Eagerness to develop professional knowledge and skills on a continuing basis  
      

Preferred Requirements  

  • Familiarity with relevant technology products (LibraryH3lp software used to deliver chat reference service via AskAway and Springshare Libguides)  

Location and compensation questions? 

This position will be based at the Surrey or Langley campus Library; however, intercampus travel is required. Partial remote working is also available but is subject to change at the discretion of KPU or the University Librarian. Some weekend and evening work may be required.

SALARY INFORMATION:

The salary range for this position is $ 71,846-115,129. Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.

This competition is for a maximum FTE of 80% (Regular or NR2). When possible, priority will be given to the candidate(s) who can maximize the FTE either individually, or collectively, as such please indicate on your application your preferred workload percentage.
