About the Role

Simon Fraser University (SFU) is seeking an entrepreneurial self-starter for the position of Director of Global Engagement for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East to lead and drive the development of strategic partnerships and initiatives across these regions. In this leadership role, the Director will work closely with colleagues within SFU International, faculties, and other campus partners to create, implement, and evaluate global engagement strategies that enhance SFU's presence and impact internationally. This individual will be responsible for securing new funding, building cross-regional collaborations, fostering innovative projects, and mentoring staff while raising SFU’s profile through dynamic, region-specific engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to navigate complex global landscapes, develop new funding streams and lead transformative partnerships that align with SFU’s mission and vision.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in International Relations, Arts, Business Administration, or Education, or a related field, and five years of related experience in areas such as analysis and planning; program, project or event management; and community outreach and engagement, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Good knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and intercultural skills.
  • Excellent persuasion, influencing and public speaking skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders through effective presentations.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and presentation/public speaking) skills.
  • Experience in international development, international relations or other related areas.
  • Excellent budget management and financial administration skills.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, problem solving, and organizational skills, with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop relationships and partnerships and to work collaboratively at all levels and areas within and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to others.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
