About the Role

The Associate Director, Indigenous Graduate Programs is an integral part of the Indigenous Graduate Programs at the Beedie School of Business and oversees the day-to-day operations, budgets and risk management and for Indigenous Graduate Programs. The Associate Director is responsible for the development, implementation, management, coordination and assessment of Indigenous programs within Beedie School of Business. The role contributes to strategic enrollment and program growth by working with Indigenous communities to develop partnerships and understand needs, identifying opportunities for the development of new programs, and ensuring culturally safe learning environments for students.  

The ideal candidate will be grounded in both lived community experience and the Indigenous business leadership landscape. They are a kind, student centered, values aligned team member who can build relationships and implement program vision. They will also be thoughtful, responsive, and committed to meeting deadlines. They will be collaborative and able to foster a collaborative process and team. They will be creative, think strategically, and have a solid knowledge of post-secondary environments, university governance, policies, and procedures. They will be well versed in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. They will be willing to do a large variety of work and be a positive and supportive member of the team. They will be an excellent communicator, both written and verbally.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline and five years of related experience in areas such as Indigenous relationship development, business program/project management, financial administration, staff supervision, event planning, and experience working in an Indigenous community or institution or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of Indigenous issues in Post-Secondary education, Truth and Reconciliation Commission and its Calls to Action, The Royal Commission on Indigenous People, The Indian Act and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. 
  • Good knowledge of data analysis including compiling and identifying appropriate data, methods of data analysis, and reporting of results, implications, and recommendations.
  • Excellent planning and team management, financial administration, analytical, problem solving, and organization skills. 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and conflict management skills. 
  • Excellent knowledge of risk management and trauma informed approaches and practices.
  • Excellent public relations skills and problem-solving skills working in an external transparent environment.
