Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

At Simon Fraser University's School of Medicine, we envision a medical education system where students and residents learn as part of a team in primary care and other community-level settings, in patient-centred environments, and with a curriculum that considers social, environmental and prevention contexts. As we establish the school in Surrey, B.C., our growing relationships with the local community, Fraser Health Authority, First Nations Health Authority, physicians and Indigenous partners will help us to meet the diverse health needs of the communities we serve and improve access to primary care throughout the province.  We seek to advance reconciliation by embedding and equalizing Indigenous knowledge systems in our learning, research and practices while resting on a solid foundation of high-quality, accredited education and world-class research efforts that keep us oriented towards measurable socially accountable outcomes.

About the Role

The Manager, Clinical Skills & Anatomy is responsible for leading the development, operations, and ongoing enhancement of the School of Medicine’s clinical, simulation, anatomy, and physiology teaching facilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, hands-on medical education. This role oversees the design, resourcing, and delivery of learning environments, teaching equipment, standardized patient programs, and clinical skills & simulation activities, ensuring alignment with curriculum objectives, accreditation standards, and safety requirements. In close collaboration with faculty, curriculum, assessment, and technology teams, the position plays a key role in preparing learners for clinical practice while advancing innovative, technology-enabled, and culturally safe learning experiences, including the integration of Indigenous perspectives. Key priorities include establishing and optimizing clinical skills & simulation spaces, and anatomy laboratories, implementing standardized patient and volunteer programs, supporting structured assessments, developing operational policies and safety protocols, and supporting the expansion of teaching infrastructure to meet program growth and the evolving needs of medical education.

An ideal candidate brings strong expertise in clinical skills, simulation, and medical education operations, with the ability to oversee complex teaching facilities, including simulation environments and anatomy labs. They possess excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with experience in resource planning, budgeting, and equipment oversight. Demonstrated leadership and people management capabilities are essential to effectively supervise multidisciplinary teams and standardized patient programs. The successful candidate excels in collaboration and stakeholder engagement, working closely with faculty, technical teams, and external partners. A strong understanding of safety, regulatory compliance, and accreditation standards is critical, along with the ability to adapt, innovate, and foster culturally safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments.
