Overview

The City of Richmond is hiring two Managers, Development to support a team of professional planners in our Development Applications Department. As a leader within the Department the Manager, Development – West and Manager, Development – East, are integral to shaping and delivering the City’s built and natural environment.

As a leader in this dynamic environment, you will:

  • Provide expert guidance on rezoning and development permit applications and interpretation of the City's Zoning Bylaw.
  • Mentor, coach and manage a motivated team of professional staff to deliver the City’s vision and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and represent the City on development-related initiatives.
  • Support City Council’s vision by ensuring effective application of plans, bylaws, and policies.

Candidates will have:

  • A degree in Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, Architecture, or related fields (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in development, land use planning or policy planning preferably in a municipal environment.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of managing high-performing teams and projects.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
