Telecon is seeking a motivated, career-oriented Payroll Manager to lead and support a dedicated payroll team. In this role, you’ll help shape how the function operates while overseeing payroll operations, maintaining systems, and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing. Through your leadership, the team will work with clarity, confidence, and accountability.

This full-time hybrid position is mostly remote, requiring just 1–2 days per week in the office, and offers a flexible group insurance plan, company-matching RRSP from day one, and opportunities for growth and development.

This position requires fluency in both French and English to support French and English speaking clients. The role involves daily reading, writing, and verbal communication in both languages.

 

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Oversee payroll tax filings, wage garnishments, benefits deductions, and year-end reporting
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll laws and regulations
  • Maintain and improve payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Supervise, train, and develop payroll technicians and staff (hybrid and remote)
  • Supervise payroll technicians in resolving payroll-related inquiries
  • Serve as the point of contact for CRA audits, provincial audits, and internal audits related to payroll
  • Partner with HR on new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and benefits administration
  • Oversee Finance’s work on payroll reconciliations, audits, and financial reporting
  • Manage payroll systems and lead system upgrades or implementation initiatives as needed
  • Prepare payroll reports and analytics for leadership

 

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THESE SKILLS AND QUALITIES

  • Minimum 5 years of Canadian payroll experience, including multi-provincial payroll
  • Proven experience managing and developing payroll team members
  • Fully bilingual in French and English (required)
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is an asset
  • Experience with U.S. payroll is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Proficient with payroll systems and related technology
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
