The Community Services Department has an opening for a temporary part time Aquatic Leader II to provide supervision and leadership for lifeguards, instructors and users of the Aquatic Centre. You will play a key role in the leadership of the Aquatic Centre Leader team and be expected to provide mentoring and leadership to other team members.

This position is responsible for participating in program development, special events, lesson supervision, lifeguard training, and staff supervision. Added responsibilities involve performing maintenance functions in and around the pool.

The successful candidate will: be a high school graduate, have successfully completed courses in lifesaving, swimming instruction and pool operation and maintenance. Desirable training and experience includes: a minimum of 1 year experience as an Aquatic Leader; NL Waterfront and previous beach experience; BCRPA Aquatic Fitness Module; Instructor Trainer Certification (NL, CPR, AED); and Lifesaving Instructor.

Required Licenses and Current Certificates include: LSS Swim Instructor; National Lifeguard – Pool; Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED. National Lifeguard – Waterfront and Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate is required to supply an acceptable Police Information Check at their own expense.

Position Status:

Union (WVMEA) - Temporary Part-Time

Hours of Work:

TPT (0.6) - 22.5 hours per week

TPT (0.8) - 30 hours per week

Hours and days of work may vary. Position term is ideally between May 10 to September 5, 2025.

Rate of Pay:

$32.75 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
