The West Vancouver Community Services Department is hiring for a permanent full-time Access & Community Services Manager. The area of oversight includes the Gleneagles Community Centre and Clubhouse, Welcoming and Inclusive Communities Programs, Access Services, and Community Development across the District. The position reports to the Senior Manger of Community Services.
Key Responsibilities:
· provide leadership and day-to-day management of the facilities, systems and processes;
· hire, supervise and train staff; develop workplans and job performance expectations, evaluate and coach staff, develop succession programs and initiatives, and address labour relations issues;
· provide management direction to staff by planning, assigning and supervising work;
· ensure the effectiveness of existing programs, services and facilities and modify as needed to meet community need and to achieve efficiency in recreation program operations;
· prepare and implement facility and service area annual operating budgets and contribute to the development of capital budgeting and corresponding operating budget impacts;
· work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders;
· prepare reports and recommendations on social needs in the community;
· participate on various North Shore and regional committees and task forces to represent the Municipality’s interests, to develop solutions to social issues and act as a resource person;
· identify resources from other levels of government to support social service agency needs in the community;
· establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with community groups, the public, and internal contacts; and,
· participate in other duties and special projects as assigned.
The preferred candidate will possess:
· a Degree in recreation administration, business administration, social sciences or other related discipline;
· considerable related work experience in recreation, including supervisory and administrative experience or an equivalent;
· combination of education and experience; and,
· a valid BC Driver’s License and a vehicle.
The successful candidate will:
· possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and conflict resolution skills;
· possess expertise in financial oversight of multiple facilities (both operating and capital budget) and a proven success in meeting community need in a cost-effective manner,
· understand organizational challenges (internal and external), achieve desired results, and attend to the needs of staff, the community, and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials.
Position Status: | EXEMPT – Permanent Full-Time A competitive salary starting between $108,900.00 - $122,600.00 depending on relevant experience and credentials, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including pension plan |
Hours of Work: | 35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary) |
