BYLAW & LICENSING CLERK

(Contract Term Temporary Full-Time - Approximately 25 months)

The West Vancouver Bylaw & Licensing Services Department has an opening for a temporary full-time Bylaw & Licensing Clerk. Reporting to the Manager of Bylaw & Licensing Services, this position will be primarily responsible for performing clerical duties related to the District’s new short-term rental licensing and enforcement program. This is a front-line position which will require contact with the public by telephone, email and/or in person. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required to respond to complex and sensitive situations.

 

This position will also be responsible for supporting the functions of the Bylaw & Licensing Services Department including but not limited to receiving and processing licensing applications, bylaw notices and parking permits for parks and residential areas. This position will also perform accounting functions such as receiving payments and reconciling and adjusting accounts for a variety of fees and charges.

 

The successful candidate has completed related administrative, and computer courses and has direct experience in record keeping including handling and balancing of funds. Direct experience with bylaw enforcement would be considered an asset.

 

The successful candidates are required to supply an acceptable police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status:

WVMEA (Union) – Contract Term Temporary Full-time

Hours of Work:

35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Rate of Pay:

$32.75 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.

This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase based on hours completed in the position.

After 3 months of continuous service, Contract Term Temporary employees shall be provided with a one (1) time choice between receiving the same benefit, vacation, statutory holidays and leave provisions as permanent employees or fourteen percent (14%) of regular salary in lieu of all benefits.
