AQUATIC LEADER I

The Community Services Department has an opening for a temporary part time Aquatic Leader I position. Reporting to the Aquatic Program Coordinators, this position provides leadership to aquatic staff and assists with facility operations and/or waterfront lifeguard services.

 

This position is responsible for:

·         supervising, developing aquatic staff and facilitating with staff training;

·         assisting with the pool operations and/or waterfront lifeguard/service;

·         providing administrative assistance and handling customer service inquiries; and,

·         assuming responsibility for facility operations as required.

 

The successful candidate will: be a high school graduate, have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a lifeguard & swimming instructor, knowledge of pool operations and supervisory experience. Microsoft Office Suite, RecStaff, and Activenet registration system knowledge would be considered an asset.

 

Required Licenses and Current Certificates include:

·         Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor;

·         National Lifeguard – Pool;

·         Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED.

National Lifeguard – Waterfront and Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check with vulnerable sector and a copy of their credentials. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

 

Successful applicants will be required to attend a mandatory staff training on:

·        Tuesday, May 12, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

This position will run from May 12 – early September 2026

Position Status:

Union (WVMEA) – Temporary Part-Time

Hours of Work:

TPT (0.6) - 22.5 hours per week

TPT (0.8) – 30 hours per week

 

Hours and days of work may vary.

Rate of Pay:

$30.22 per hour (2025 rate) plus 14% in lieu of benefits
