Here is What’s on Your Horizon

Faculty/School:  Faculty of Community and Health 

Program: Pre-Health Sciences and other courses within the program. 

Responsible for teaching courses at the Certificate level, in the Pre- Health Sciences programs. Courses include but are not limited to: Chemistry I and II, Human Biology, Anatomy and Physiology of Wellness, Foundations of Mathematics, Mathematics of Data Management and Science of Self Care.

Campus: King Campus

Responsible for providing academic leadership in the classroom and ensuring an effective and compelling learning environment for students.  You will… 
 
Teaching Excellence: 

  • Engage students with course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniques, fostering their active involvement in the learning process. 
  • Utilize active learning strategies across various class formats, including online, hybrid, flexible, and in-person, to enhance student engagement and understanding. 
  • Harness educational technology to create dynamic and interactive learning experiences that enrich student learning and retention. 
  • Provide academic counseling and tutoring support as needed, offering personalized assistance to help students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals. 
  • Create vibrant learning environments by utilizing available resources, integrating real-world experiences, and organizing enriching field trips.  

Course and Curriculum Development: 

  • Foster an equitable and accessible learning community in all class formats, ensuring that every student has equal opportunities for success. 
  • Design diverse formative and summative assessments that cater to different learning styles and promote student growth. 
  • Collaborate with program directors, advisory committees, and stakeholders to refine course objectives and develop effective learning approaches that meet the needs of students and industry demands. 
  • Drive curriculum development by implementing innovative instructional methods and utilizing multimedia resources to enhance student engagement and understanding. 
  • Champion the selection of textbooks and learning materials that align with course objectives and enrich students' learning journeys with relevant and up-to-date content.  


Academic Leadership: 

  • Offer mentorship and guidance to fellow instructors to elevate teaching standards. 
  • Contribute to curriculum development through active participation in consultative committees. 
  • Engage in industry and community-linked applied research initiatives to enrich student learning with interdisciplinary experiences. 


What you bring to Seneca 

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience specifically within the area of Math, Biology, and/or Chemistry in the post- secondary level is required.
  • Teaching experience in all above three areas is preferred
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum completed Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Biology, or Chemistry, Health sciences, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork abilities, coupled with a dedication to fostering diversity, inclusion, integrity, and excellence.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are needed to engage with Seneca's diverse community, prioritizing equity in education.
