The Operations Division supports the Toronto Community Housing Vision and Mission through nurturing revitalized communities and tenants by providing programs, services and partnerships aimed at the needs of children and youth, working families, under/employed youth, seniors, and other vulnerable tenant populations. The Division does this through tenant engagement, accessing services and spaces, integrating healthy communities, providing support for seniors and vulnerable tenants, economic development programs and corporate sponsorships/partnerships.

As a Site Lead in the YouthWorx program you will be reporting to the Supervisor, Program Supports & Implementation in order to connect the youth in our communities to the various employment programs.  

Program Timelines:

The contract term for this position will be approximately 13 weeks, working up to approximately 36.25 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to attend as per the program timelines below;

  • Training dates: Monday, June 2nd -  Monday, June 30, 2025  (9:00AM - 5:00PM)
  • YouthWorx dates: Wednesday, July 2nd - Friday, August 22nd, 2025 (8:00AM - 4:00PM)

IMPORTANT:  Please note that training is mandatory for all hires and not optional. If candidates are unable to attend all of the mandatory trainings they will not be considered for the role. Majority of trainings will be at our Central region office located at downtown Toronto in Regent Park. CANDIDATES MUST BE READY AND AVAILABLE TO WORK THE FULL DURATION OF THE EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT.  

Responsibilities:

Staff Management and Supervision

  • Full responsibility for the work site, overseeing staff’s day to day responsibilities, operations, and the implementation of programming, quality control and safety.  
  • Assign daily tasks to YouthWorx staff and conduct daily checks to ensure that those tasks are being completed according to program standards and provide support and coaching where needed. 
  • Ensure program standardization at work site on a daily basis as per master plan provided to each site by YouthWorx leadership team and provide quality assurance supports to get site back on track when no longer aligned with master plan.
  • Provide direct supervision of youth staff, including monitoring and addressing performance, providing feedback and leadership opportunities to support youth staff develop their skills.
  • Document youth staff attendance, and support youth staff to have good work attendance.
  • Organize workflow and ensure that youth staff understand their duties or delegated tasks.
  • Maintain personnel records.
  • Assist with the implementation and delivery of youth staff training and weekly professional development workshops.

Program Coordination and Implementation 

  • Assist Program Coordinators with final planning and coordination of activities to implement program plans while maintaining high standards of service excellence.
  • Assist with all program administrative duties and record keeping accurately, and in a timely manner. 
  • Promote a supportive and positive relationship with TCH tenants, partners, service providers and the larger community.
  • Arrives first to site at 8:00AM and prepare morning reporting documents including, daily staff attendance sign-in, site readiness checklist and sends reports to Program Coordinator by 8:55AM.              
  • Once all youth staff arrive, send full attendance report to Program Coordinator.
  • Conduct daily program audits to ensure that program plans are being followed and make amendments to meet the needs and skills of staff.
  • Participate in weekly site meetings and provide work site progress reports and issues action plans to Program Coordinators.
  • Conduct community asset mapping to ensure that youth staff are aware of community resources in fun and creative ways.
  • Provide direct programming when site is short staffed due to absence or needs assistance to complete their roles.
  • Lead youth staff to plan and implement community giveback events with approval of Program Coordinator

Workplace and Program Space Safety

  • Assist  Program Coordinator in ensuring youth staff are trained on established safety plans.
  • Assist with conducting safety drills with youth staff.
  • Ensure safety of program/workspaces and locations.
  • Report deficiencies for timely follow-up.
  • Monitor youth staff compliance with related safety process and procedures. 

Communication, Documentation and Customer Service 

  • Liaise with on-site teams to ensure that day-to-day plans and schedules occur as planned.
  • Assist Program Coordinator to document and report incidents, respond to inquiries and make alternate plans as needed.
  • Assist Program Coordinator to document customized goal setting, professional development and transition plans for youth staff.
  • Assist Program Coordinator to document program outcomes for the purpose of showcasing flagship activities to the organization and public.
  • Provide feedback to Program Coordinator and Supervisors for program improvement.

Program Inventory

  • Support Program Coordinator to ensure youth staff have all program materials and equipment needed.
  • Ensure inventory is monitored and maintained at adequate levels to support program needs.
  • Support Program Coordinator with logistics needed to ensure efficient program delivery such as conducting inventory at the start and end of program period and moving supplies as needed during the program period.     

Qualifications 

  • Must be minimum 18 years of age. 
  • Post-Secondary education (or pursuing) in Community Development, Social Work, Child and Youth work, Sports Management/Development or other relevant fields, considered an asset.
  • Experience supervising and coaching staff in recreational or community/program setting. 
  • Experience working with community members, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Cleared Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
  • First Aid qualifications, or must be willing to obtain certificate prior to commencement of work assignment.
  • High 5 Training is an Asset. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and/or academic background in working with youth and children in a community-based setting.
  • Experience overseeing the planning and implementation of community-based programs within high needs/Priority neighbourhoods; Experience working with BIPOC communities. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills: working knowledge of relevant software (i.e Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite etc.) and comfort learning new programs.
  • Proficient in behavior management, crisis intervention and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
