Position Summary:
The Shop Technician is responsible for the fabrication, preparation, inspection, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and components used in field operations. This role supports the mechanical and specialty services divisions by ensuring that all gear leaving the shop is safe, functional, and ready for deployment. It’s an ideal role for mechanically inclined individuals who thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced, and safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, repair, clean, and test equipment and tooling used for field machining, hydraulic bolting, hydrotesting, hot tapping, heat treatment, trucks, generators, and other specialty equipment.
- Perform fabrication and modification of parts as per shop drawings or supervisor instructions.
- Conduct incoming and outgoing inspections on equipment to verify operational readiness.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment status, inspections, repairs, and calibrations.
- Assist with material preparation, packaging, and logistics for mobilization to field projects.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop environment, including inventory control.
- Work in compliance with safety policies and procedures, using appropriate PPE at all times.
- Support maintenance of shop vehicles and support equipment as required.
- Provide feedback to improve processes, equipment design, and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on mechanical experience in a shop or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with hand tools, pneumatic tools, torquing/tensioning equipment, and basic fabrication tools.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to read prints, work instructions, and safety data sheets.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail with a safety-first mindset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
Preferred Assets:
- Experience supporting oil & gas or chemical plant projects.
- Familiarity with leak repair, hot tapping, pressure testing, or bolting tools.
- Forklift certification or overhead crane experience.
- Welding, pipefitting, or millwrighting experience is a strong asset.
