We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Evaluation and Risk Management

The incumbent provides expert advice and guidance on matters relating to evaluation at the Museum and is responsible for developing and implementing policy instruments, processes, and tools to support this function. The incumbent is responsible for planning, conducting, analyzing, reporting, and communicating results from public opinion research, market research and analyses, and visitor research and evaluation studies as well as providing oversight to projects undertaken by external consultants. The incumbent serves as lead evaluator for specific studies related to exhibitions, programs, digital products and/or museum services, and employs a variety of data collection and analysis methods to gather and report on quantitative and qualitative data. The Senior Advisor, Evaluation and Risk Management contributes to corporate risk management and performance measurement, providing relevant and accurate data as well as strategic advice on trends and new developments in the internal and external environment that may impact the Museum’s achievement of its mandate and strategic objectives.

Five (5) years of relevant experience:

  • Designing and leading evaluation projects; encompassing qualitative and quantitative methods, objective setting, data collection, analysis, and interpretation;
  • Completing evaluation projects using a variety of research methods, such as surveys, interviews, facilitated discussions, observations and/or a combination of these;
  • Collecting and analyzing results using web-based survey tools, databases, statistical analysis programs, excel spreadsheets;
  • Conducting descriptive and inferential statistical analysis as well as qualitative data analysis;
  • Developing and presenting the results of evaluation projects, both as a written report and oral presentation for different audiences; developing briefing material, reports, summaries, etc.
  • Designing and leading visitor studies in a museological setting (an asset);
  • Developing and delivering training (an asset);
  • Developing and implementing corporate policy instruments (an asset);

 Knowledge of:

  • Conceptual and theoretical issues that underlie public opinion research, market research, visitor studies and evaluation;
  • Risk Management;
  • Performance measurement;
  • Legislation and regulations as they impact Crown Corporations and the Museum (e.g., Museums Act, Financial Administration Act, Privacy Act, Access to Information Act, Official Languages Act);
  • The mandate, general structure, strategic directions, and objectives of the Canadian Museum of History;
  • Presentation and communication techniques to be used in conveying information to a variety of audiences within and outside the Museum.
  • Knowledge of museums and cultural heritage institutions (an asset). 

Education: University Degree in Social Sciences, Sociology, Political Science, Public Administration, or a field relevant to the position, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. A post-graduate certificate in evaluation or market research methods or a CMRP (Certified Marketing Research Professional) designation would be considered an asset.

Compensation: NU5 - $82,351 to $ 112,808
