Salary Range: $67,680.00 - $101,520.00

Schedule: Compressed Work Week (9-hour dayshifts, every other Friday off)

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for obtaining the best total value in the acquisition of materials and services to meet the ongoing needs of all mill departments while supporting the Materials Replenishment Program.

ü  Ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of high-quality materials and services

ü  Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions while maintaining vendor relationships

ü  Responsible to cover the Procurement Manager, Buyer and Storeroom Supervisors’ (MRP and material buying) roles when they are on vacation or away from the mill

ü  Support the MRP program by sourcing, buying and maintaining SAP internal contracts

ü  Research and provide information to department supervisors concerning new products and services

ü  Manage material quality issues, returns, pricing and invoicing discrepancies, holding suppliers accountable

ü  Ensure all assigned duties and projects are completed in a timely manner

ü  Become familiar with existing Kruger and departmental operating policies and procedures

ü  Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

ü  On call and remote support once a month during weekends

ü  Other responsibilities as required or as assigned

ü  Safety focused;

ü  Confident communicator at all levels of organization including listening, writing and presenting;

ü  written and oral communication skills, proven interpersonal skills and follow-up skills are required

ü  Self-motivated and capable of working under minimal supervision and function best in high performance work environments

ü  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written with a large volume of external vendors and internal peers, negotiating and problem-solving.

ü  Post-secondary diploma/certificate in Supply Chain Management (SCMA) or related field

ü  5 - 10 years experience as a buyer supporting an industrial manufacturing facility/mill

ü  Experience in the materials management field and have a good understanding of contract structures, terms and conditions

ü  Experience in SAP or other procure-to-pay systems

ü  Professional certification in Supply Chain or Procurement preferred (SCMP) or related field is an asset

ü  Excellent computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite®, especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
