The City of Lethbridge has provided fire and emergency services in an integrated system since 1912. The service is one of the few integrated services in Canada and offers a unique and challenging career for people looking to experience the best of the fire and EMS profession. Please note that these positions are subject to continued external contract funding.
Minimally, candidates must be registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics as Primary Care Paramedic (PCP). Candidates registered as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) are given preference. As a prerequisite, candidates are to have completed the University of Alberta Fire Fighter Physical.
If shortlisted, the process includes a written aptitude and medical knowledge tests, medical scenario testing, a behavioral descriptive job interview, and psychological evaluation. Prior to being offered employment, candidates must pass a comprehensive medical. Firefighting training to the NFPA 1001 standard, firefighting experience and experience in an EMS system is an asset.
Upon start date, candidates are required to have a minimum of a Province of Alberta Class 4 Drivers license. Within the first 12 months of being hired, candidates are required to obtain a Class 3 license and ‘Q’ endorsement for Air Brakes. There is no reimbursement for this cost by the Employer.

4. Criminal record check with vulnerable sector (dated within 3 months of the close of this posting)
5. Documentation confirming ACP registration (if applicable)
6. Completed U of A “Medical Clearance” form
7. U of A Firefighter Physical certificate of completion (dated within 6 months of this posting opening)

o October 3, 2023 at 0900 registrations will open for the second block of Fall tests. Testing days will include November 15, 16, 17, and 23. A total of 40 testing spots
