Employment Status : Temporary Full-time (10 Months)

In this role, you will :                                                

  • Contribute to the program design including program scope, objectives, standards, goals and deliverables.
  • Support design of program activities to meet intended objectives including identification, monitoring and evaluation, design of supportive tools and resources.
  • Support the management of the planning, budget management, plans and schedule project timelines/ milestones and reporting requirements for sub-projects.
  • Contribute to the design, input and finalization of internal reporting.
  • As requested, support government and external relations on matters relevant to the project/program.
  • Ensure there is strategic and equitable access to CRC services and programs.
  • Ensure cultural safety guides the approach to our work and the design of programs.
  • As required, represent Red Cross, on key committees and working groups, including provincial initiatives related to topical issues around impacted Indigenous communities.
  • Support the development of working relationships with, but not limited to: Indigenous community leadership structures, community serving organizations, local municipalities connected with the Indigenous Flood and Fires impacted populations, relevant Friendship Centers and other Indigenous led organizations, and key community contacts from impacted areas.

     

What we are looking for : 

  • The ideal candidate has lived and/or has professional experience with First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis Nations or communities.
  • The minimum qualifications for this job are a university degree, and 3 to 5 years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience including working with Indigenous communities.
  • The official languages recognized within the Canadian Red Cross are English and French; however demonstrated skills and ability to communicate in one or multiple Indigenous language(s) or ability to communicate and adapt within Indigenous protocols is highly desirable.
  • Experience in emergency/disaster environment is an asset.
  • A valid driver's license is required with a satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Experience in working with a diverse population and an understanding of cultural issues.
  • Experience working with programs impacting Indigenous populations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of community engagement programs addressing risk reduction and the promotion of resilience.
  • Proven program, management and delivery experience in a complex environment is essential.
  • Experience working in partnerships with specific reference to working with Indigenous communities.
  • Experience in working with community engagement programs addressing risk reduction and the promotion of resilience.

       

Working conditions : 

  • Ability to travel will be required for this role in strategic locations in BC (Kamloops, Merritt, Lower Mainland and Victoria).  
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours, be on-call and respond to emergency / disaster related requests
