Title : Program Manager, Disaster Risk Reduction

Employee Working Location :  Partially Virtual / Hybrid (Toronto, ON)

Employment Status : Temporary Full-Time (Until March 7, 2025)

Salary Band :  $ 61, 592 -  $ 78, 485 / year

In this role you will :

  • Lead overall United Way Toronto Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) & Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) project planning and implementation with external partners, ensuring integration into CRC operational plans and manage project resourcing budget in-line to achieve project goals.
  • Work closely with National DRR personnel and partnership stakeholders (internal and external), enables technical support to project design and implementation.
  • Build and manage partnerships and/or technical support for implementation of DRR-CCA activities.
  • Facilitate workshops and related group engagement sessions.
  • Communicate and manage project expectations with Ontario and National CRC team members as well as external stakeholders establishing a standard for the content of project reports, including data analysis, and troubleshoots problem areas.
  • Work with National DRR-CCA Monitoring & Evaluation Sr Officer (and Quality Management as needed) to develop a monitoring and evaluation plan and data collection tools, that can begin being implemented at the onset of the project.
  • In close collaboration with the Nation DRR-CCA Sr. Manager and Sr. Service Continuity Planning Advisor, reviews monitoring data and participant feedback, against Cluster objectives and project outcomes to produce recommendations for future phases of the program.  
  • Develop and deliver against reporting requirements, both internally and externally, based on the partnership agreements, including progress reports, change requests and presentations.
  • Monitor processes based on quality and adherence to reporting requirements, reports findings, progress, issues and risks and any other important project information to the Senior Director, EM, Ontario and technical leadership group.
  • Contributes to DRR-CCA national networks, including participation in virtual and in-person meetings,  and liaises as required on matters related to DRR-CCA.
  • Support implementation of the Society’s DRR-CCA Framework within the CRC, including components of preparedness and community resilience, as required.
  • Ensure current programming meets Society standards and reflects commitments against Frameworks including Indigenous Peoples and reflection of Protection, Gender and Inclusion.

               

What we are looking for :

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Emergency Management, DRR, or related discipline such as community development, sociology, or anthropology.
  • A minimum of 3-6 years of job-related work experience, working in program/project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical support and monitoring of an organizational resiliency program and/or DRR specific approach to promote resilience and the individual and community level an asset.
  • Work experience with the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience as a facilitator / trainer a strong asset.
  • Experience with coordinating multiple stakeholders is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of community-based disaster risk reduction and behavioural change principles.
  • Experience in leading and managing projects with internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English required; fluency in another language is an asset.
  • Understanding of business process improvement, quality management and evaluation in the context of program and service delivery.
  • The ability to travel to project locations within the Greater Toronto Area is required.

             

Working Conditions :

  • The majority of the work is performed in a home environment however delivery of the project will include a requirement to organize and facilitate in-person meetings on a frequent, recurring basis across the GTA;
  • Occasional requirement to work overtime hours, often with short notice.
  • Ability to travel domestically.
