About the position

CSL Australia is currently looking for a permanent full time Chief Officer to join our cement carrier Goliath on a roster schedule 6 on and 6 off. This operation is based in the Bass Strait. As one of the most senior officers onboard, the Chief Officer is responsible for allocating the day to day tasks and managing a team, ensuring a safe and proper operation of the vessel and its equipment.

 

In addition, the Chief Officer will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the preparation of loading and discharge plans;
  • Undertaking Chief Officer watchkeeping duties as required in port and at sea.
  • All matters pertaining to cargo, cargo spaces, cargo systems and cargo handling;
  • Supervision and training of crew engaged in cargo duties;
  • Enforcing of all safety precautions and regulations;
  • Ensuring all policies and procedures laid down are properly carried out;
  • Having comprehensive knowledge of all maintenance and repair needs of the deck and throughout the accommodation;
  • Providing guidance and support to the Deck Officers including Deck Cadets.
  • Capable of ShipSure entry and management of Deck department requirements.

 

About you

  • Educational requirement: As per AMSA Marine Order 71 (mandatory)
  • Technical requirements: at least 12 months documented qualifying seagoing service in charge of navigation watch
  • MSIC Card (required or ability to obtain)
  • Working Safely at Heights (required or ability to obtain)
  • Enter and Work in a Confined Workspace certification (required or ability to obtain)
  • Current AMSA Medical (required or ability to obtain)
  • Australian Citizen or Valid Work Visa (required)
