Business Analyst

Reporting to Director, Business Analysis & Project Management

Contract Position (3 Months)

Mandate

We are looking for a Sr. Business Analyst with digital expertise that ensures the needs of the customer (internal and external) are the prime focus.

  • To gather and analyze the business needs to help identify solutions to business problems
  • To translate business needs into system whats; use cases and functional/non-functional high-quality requirements in a User Story, Storyboard, or Business Requirements Document
  • To anticipate and focus on customer's needs
  • To follow Change Management Process
  • To communicate issues and remove obstacles/barriers by identifying mitigation strategies
  • To follow project management disciplines to deliver project tasks on time and within scope

 

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Able to switch between Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid Methodologies
  • Executes JAD sessions to elicit business functional & non-functional requirements
  • Gathers, analyzes and documents business, and functional/non-functional requirements
  • Shape’s business requirements by making recommendations, communicating trade-offs and suggesting alternatives to proposed solutions
  • Works with business and delivery teams to prioritize requirements
  • Identifies and documents a business solution that most effectively and feasibly meets business requirements
  • Attends all ceremonies i.e., Daily SCRUMs, Sprint Planning, Sprint Retrospective etc.
  • Works with Scrum Master/Product Owner/Project Manager to build backlogs, define deliverables and achieve targeted outcomes
  • Ensures compliance with BA processes and checklists, drive project decision makers to resolve issues / make decisions in a timely manner
  • Liaise between business and technical teams by facilitating communication and determining objectives that align with stated and unstated business needs
  • Provides two-way communication with all levels of stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Supports design, development and testing phases
  • Review’s system test cases and support other types of testing if needed
  • Follows Change Control process when needed
  • Other duties as required.

  • Post-secondary in information technology / computer science / business discipline or equivalent
  • Working towards CBAP certification an asset
  • 3 to 5 years of business systems analysis experience in the Financial Industry
  • 1 to 2 years of Project Management Life Cycle knowledge and experience
  • Expertise in requirements and functional design facilitation and documentation, including modeling tools and methods
  • Experience with various business requirements gathering techniques and leverages agile analysis techniques to drive clear value propositions
  • BA formal training
  • Strong business acumen; understand the link between business need and application of technology
  • Ability to solve problems and issues that arise
  • Attentive to detail and multitasking skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, including ability to adapt to a dynamic environment
  • Communicates (verbally and written) effectively with stakeholders and management
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to:
  • Microsoft Project/Trello or other planning tools (able to follow and understand)
  • Microsoft Access / Excel / Outlook / PowerPoint / Word / Visio
  • Snagit, MockPlus screen mock-up tool or similar software
  • Experience with Agile Planning tools
  • Intermediate to Strong query analysis skills
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL is an asset
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Proven ability to deliver project deliverables on time and in scope
  • Proven track record in working with multiple initiatives and projects at the same time
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to be proactive and has problem resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Promote a collaborative team environment and can work independently
  • Manages key stakeholder interests in a constant changing culture while at the same time managing conflicting priorities and business interests.
